I am from Arden Hills, Minnesota. Currently I am a Genetics, Cell Biology and Development major at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and eventually I plan on going to medical school. I have researched in a genetics lab for over a year which has allowed me to apply biological, genetics, and chemical concepts to real life situations. I have experience in a wide variety of subjects, but my strengths lie in the basic sciences. Throughout my college career, I have had various tutoring experiences leading and helping my peers understand different subjects. I have also had experience tutoring K-5 students at an after school program in Minneapolis. I believe that effective tutors not only help students answer questions, but also understand the rationale for how they arrived at the answer. It is important for tutors to understand when students should be allowed to work through problems alone, and when they need more direction. I believe in providing students tools to learn more effectively so that they can become more independent in the future. These are all things that I believe that I do well as a tutor.
